I have had the fortune to take many trips to Europe in my life. The last few inspired me to paint a series called “Street Scenes of Europe”, predominately of France, Italy, and Spain. These paintings are often done in watercolor, some in collage, some representational, some more abstracted. Often I would wake early and wander the streets, looking for the light, the right moment, and finding uncrowded streets, could capture the architecture I enjoy so much.
My perspective is mainly that of looking into or down a quiet street, under an arch, through a passageway. The paintings are not complex, but I try to convey the colors and the feeling of movement in the moment.
